I've got a Boardman hybrid, and the crank squeeks and creaks everytime i turn the pedals. It also sounds like the chain is rattling on something, but I can't tell what.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

It's often not the cranks but check your chainring bolts are tight anyway along with seat post clamp screws. BB bearings could be a long shot. Don't know how long you've had it but your chainring teeth could be getting worn and causing the rattlin chain noise.

That's the thing, the bike is only about 2 months old if that. At first I thought it was the sole of my damp trainers squeeking on the frame but it's not that. It's really bugging me because i'm meant to be taking it to centre parcs on monday.

Also, my girlfriend has the female version of the same bike, and she gets wheel squeeks......I've had them too and pulled the front wheel off and put it back on, sometimes it stops and sometimes it doesn't

Does the bike have rubber seals over the hub spindle area? These are known to squeak, a drop of light oil (3 in 1) between the rubber seal and the hub often fixes it.
