Hi All

Spent a good 1/2 day cleaning groupset etc, and before putting chain back on, I spun the crankset - it span between 1 & 2 revolutions - is this par for the course?

It seems to spin true with no apparent resistance

Fwiw, it's a 4 month old campag centaur groupset with a power torque bb - which is, wait for it, 'maintenance free'

Maintenance free = once it starts to fail you can't strip and clean it so it goes in the bin.

Oh, not much of a spin there with no chain on. Are the bearings rough or grumbly ? (You will feel it through the pedal if you turn by hand)

Don't forget that they won't spin that well as there is a counter force between the two cranks.

Also, to prevent users having to service their mid-range stuff, Campy usually pack grease into the bearings which slows the unloaded rotation but doesn't add to the friction under load ie they work just as well when in use.

AccPete, you have just royaly scrambled my brain:wacko: ...although I did google this & they (campag) do ram them full of grease - where's that drawing board?
