I’m about to slap a 52 36 on in place of a 50 34.
Would it be a straight swop or is it going to be necessary to move the front mech to accommodate the extra size?
P.S I don’t like messing about with Front mechs.

You probably will have to move it up slightly, you might be lucky depending on how much clearance is above the 50T ring allready

Get a marker pen.
Draw a line through the mach and onto the frame.
Raise the mech so it aligns after tightening, they move as you tighten them.. allow 2-3 mm clearance, jobs a good un.

Use hand gel ect to remove maker pen line

Blimey - how many times have you done it?!
Quite a few. I decide I'm fit enough to put the 52 back on, then everything goes out the window, fitness drops off a cliff and the compact goes back on 🤣

I’m hoping the opposite happens & I can go 53/39 with a 32t. You never know, we all need a little dream.

I'm doing something similar... I have a 46/34 on my CAADX but need to change it to a 53/39. My cousin kindly donated his old Powercranks but the only bike I have with the required BB30 BB is the CAADX. The spider won't take small rings.

(Mind you, I am going to cheat and fit a crazily huge 42-tooth replacement sprocket to my cassette!)

I suppose on a gravel style bike with a big 42on the back, pro rings will be great!

That's the plan. I will have to lose a sprocket in the middle of the cassette but I reckon I can put up with that!
I’m looking at CAADX & Cube Nuroad for Possible cycle to workers next year. Cotic Escapade a contender along with the Canyon grail AL.

I bought my CAADX on eBay for about 50% of list price. It had been used for a year of commuting but was still in very good condition. The original tyres had been swapped out for the commute and put back for the sale so they were unused.
