Crack in frame

I think if that was a crack you probably wouldn't have made it home.

Aluminium frames go with a bang (catastrophic failure) rather than crack & gradually propagate...

Apologies if it's not ally; I can't really tell from the pic.


Sorry 3narf,it's a carbon frame,i had put that in original post but had so much trouble posting pictures i had to start again and forgot.:blush:

the creak could be from:

chain, BB, cranks, PEDALS, chainrings (have to tried greasing the chainring bolts? All 5 of them), headset, seatpost, saddle, bars, stem, FRAME (some frame creak - impossible to solve), rear mech.

Try lifting weight off the bars when pedalling hard (difficult to do) - this will rule out bars, stem, headset, forks etc.

Check,Check,Check and Check :cry: ,On another note my new freewheel body has turned up,I take it they come pre-oiled inside because it sounds a lot louder than the one on the bike,time will tell ;)
