Of course and if necessary stop - one of my pet hates when cycling on "cycle paths" is the number of people who seem to believe that because they are going at a fair rate that they have the right of way and can occupy whatever part of the path they choose regardless of people coming the other way - ignorance or arrogance?

Just an observation over the years, that (generalising) the larger the vehicle, the more they can push smaller road users around.

Though you get MFFY's across the whole transport spectrum so maybe it is a poor generalisation?

What a knobhound that bloke was to behave like that; sadly, they're everywhere.

I'm thinking of developing an automatic "Stinger" launcher for instances like that...

Yes clearly this was unpleasant and unnessecary , not much doubt about that. Dont let it upset you or spoil your enjoyment. There allways will be people and incidents like this happen. The unfortunate reality is that even the sanest of us can sometimes have a bad day and let ourselves down, like michael douglas in falling down , (if he had ridden a bike) so best forgive and forget. If it happens again then arm the handlebar mounted stingers but hopefully it wont.
I allways worry slightly when i go past an elderly pedestrian - slow down and say something banal to reduce the surprise , i expect they think im a nutter.
