The cake thing is just a refuelling necessity. Unfortunately, most places you stop off at during rides for said refuelling sell only cake. If they sold salads, then of course I would eat that instead.

On my way back during a 100 miler today I got peckish and stopped off at a Tesco Express petrol place and bought, 1 x banana, 2 x fresh cream chocolate eclairs (on special offer), 1 x pint skimmed milk and had picnic by the side of the road.

Riding round the lakes yesterday stopped at a pub and had a bottle of Belgian fruit beer under the reasoning it contains fruit and counts as one my five a day
