I had the unfortunate experience of flying Sleazyjet from Paphos back to Manchester on Thursday. Because I didn't pre-print my boarding card I was put on standby and made to sweat for an hour before they graciously allowed me to board their poxy plane. I had paid for a ticket and turned up in plenty of time and all the agent had to do after labelling my case was press P to print a boarding card. They had a seat on the plane and I had a ticket; they just wanted to punish me
I was just wondering why Easyjet is getting a hard time from you. Did you choose Easyjet to fly with or where they forced upon you by an employer?
It is abundantly clear on the Easyjet website that it is the passengers responsibility to print out or download the boarding card. Its an absolute, no leeway in that. You dont even need a printer, just download the boarding passes to your phone. If you didnt know this its not the airlines fault. On reflection you must realise this was your fault. IMO you have compounded the mistake by slating the airline on here.
So why does the op think he is a special case? Read the rules, get prepared and travelling with low cost airlines is cheap, fast and very simple. If you cant be bothered to follow the very strict procedures Dont whinge when it all goes wrong. Its not the airlines fault. Their guidelines are very clear.

I agree, but it’s still a bit bloody unhelpful. We’re customers not the enemy.

Here's one

Moving and handing course.
The employer "its to keep you safe"

Reality "it's for when you hurt yourself, we can claim you were trained and didn't follow guidelines" you should not have moved that or them..

It's all an extension of 'spin' the lying Labour government spewed out during Bliar and Browns period, just say the right thing, doesnt matter if it carries no credence, just say it anyway...some soft sap will believe it.
It's been taken up by corporations, companies, everyone.

I was on a business trip and I usually travel on scheduled airlines on business so it simply never occurred to me to print the boarding card. I checked in almost 2 hours before the flight with a reservation for which I had paid and all the agent had to do was print the boarding card, which took no extra time. They could simply remind me (and one other passenger) of the need and let it go but no, we had to be punished. They had seats for us on the plane and we flew but still they had to play their infantile little game.
I get that. In my former job, all my work based flights were scheduled flights...you dont get any of this cr&p with them, ever. The difference is night and day. One reason I used to avoid Ryanair like the plague for personal travel, travelled Easyjet a couple times, maybe not too bad but a whole different world...not for the better, than scheduled.

You're also the means to make as much money from as possible. These conditions they impose are there to trip people up because they know most won't abide by them.
Budget airlines are mostly doing very nicely thank you. Follow the rules and you'll be fine but don't expect a first class VIP experience.

"To improve customer service........." was the line the Halifax used when they closed down their branch in my local town, leaving the nearest branch 7 miles away in the centre of York. Minimum cost to park your car in the City Centre is around £2.60 for an hour if you're lucky enough to own a car. If you don't, you have a 40 minute each way bus journey costing £3.70 return.

Just how the actual f*** is that "improving customer service"?

I guess "closing branches to increase profits and enhance shareholder returns" doesn't sound so customer focused.

Well it's improving it for 'them'.

The corporate talk reminds me of one time about 15 years ago being in a company meeting and the suits presenting "new and improved healthcare plans to be more competitive". Perhaps not a big deal over in the UK but healthcare is a biggie over here. Anyone with reasonable intelligence could gather it was a cut in benefits, but the suits persisted with the "new and improved" line. It was the biggest farce going. After the meeting I checked to find out the CEO was, rather unsurprizingly, receiving a bigger bonus. I wonder why?

Anyway, several things came out of this:

i. I don't know how they dared do this with a straight face, but they did. All of us had post-grad degrees with most of us having a doctorate, so you would think they may have been a little reticent of presenting the way they did on the presumption the audience should have been capable of working this out. However, they needn't have worried for some of them; having a certain level of education doesn't necessarily mean you don't fall for corporate spin and sadly some people apparently did take the corporate line, hook line and sinker. That surprized me!

ii. boy oh boy, did I leave that meeting with renewed vim and vigour to work hard for that corporation. I was so pumped and motivated after that. Personally, I would have had more respect had they just presented the truth: "we're cutting benefits to try to make more money for the executive board and share holders". Sometimes honesty goes a long way instead of insulting me with the corporate spin guff, which quite frankly, I find insulting.

We almost never book business trips with budget airlines because years of export travel have taught us that it can be a false economy. Book a full-fare flight and you've got clout with the airline when things go wrong and this has proved its worth time and again when people have needed to re-route or fly early or a flight has been cancelled. My Paphos trip was a simple 4 day there and back and in fact Cyprus isn't even very well served by the likes of AF, KLM or Luftie. We avoid BA on principal because of their prices and because we dislike Heathrow.
