A report from the Covid ARG (actuaries):

HSA: "overall COVID-19 hospital admission rate for week 30 was 1.97 per 100,000 population, an increase from 1.17 per 100,000 in the previous report. . . . 85+ admission rate has increased (to 20 per 100,000) and for 75-84 10 per 100,000.
Head of Immunisation HSA:
We continue to see a rise in COVID-19 cases in this week’s report. We have also seen a small rise in hospital admission rates in most age groups, particularly among the elderly. Overall levels of admission still remain extremely low and we are not currently seeing a similar increase in ICU admissions.

Two new variants of Omicron.

I got home from work, at 20:30, for SWMBO to tell me that she (& her father) had self-tested Positive this evening

Ironic, in a way; I worked all the way through the pandemic, primarily in/around an A&E departement, with incoming (positive) patients, trips to the 'red' side of ICU, with no previous infection
Likewise, SWMBO co-owns a home-care business, & barring a couple of her staff suffering at times, I don't think she lost a single client to it

I tested, after she told me, with a negative

I haven't shared a bed with the other half for almost 7 days as she's tested positive. She has been really rough and has suffered more so than previous times and is fully jabbed up. I assumed I'd be the first to bring it home working in a Uni however she's a nurse so we're equally stuffed!

A lot of people coughing around me on the plane back from Zakynthos two weeks ago.Inevitable we both came down with Covid but i only tested positive a week ago.
I did a flow test today and the red T line is very faint now so hopefully i should be clear tomorrow.
The first time i had it in September 2021 i only had a sore throat but this time i have had what i can only describe as a heavy cold and as well as feeling very tired in some parts of the the day and this still persists now.
I wonder if i have had it worse this time is because the vaccinations have worn off?

Could well be true, but everyone I've spoken with tells me it seems worse second and third time regardless of vaccination status. I've still only had it once, but it does appear to be more prevalent up here again.

Possibly. Or possibly just a different variant.

I'm fairly sure I had it shortly after coming back from Morocco (probably caught on the plane), and then my wife definitely had it a couple of weeks later - she tested, I didn't.

Both of us had the effects of a severe cold, and both of us had our most recent booster jab last November.

I know someone who had it worst first time, but they reacted badly to the vaccine too, so not typical.

Watch out, watch out, there's a new variant about.

Not me.

1st was by far my worst, despite having the jab a few months earlier.

3rd bout initially seemed bad, a lateral flow confirmed what it was, but the next morning i was still able to complete a fast charity ride.
