It had been some 47 years before in April 2014 having lost 8½ stone

that I took up cycling on a Raleigh Hybrid

to further loose weight as well as enjoy the great out doors.

In July 2015 after a bit of pressure to upgrade from my sons I purchased a Cube AMS 130 Pro which I currently own, regularly ride and enjoy, in fact from that date to 1st Sept 2016 I've done 2,868 miles.

Part of the equipment I carry is a Cateye computer and iphone with Map My Ride App.

I'm now considering of either replacing or adding a carbon road bike to the Cube stable?

I'm hoping to find a dealer who can rent me a road bike to compair but as I ride my Cube I constantly think

, "What difference will I notice?" Will it be that obvious?

I can obviously carry my iphone and app but will I need a speedometer to help in the assessment?

Thanks for any advice offered.:okay:

How long are your individual rides. If over 30 or more, you'd likely find yourself more comfortable on the right road one than a hybrid (is that what a cube AMS pro is?)

If you want one and can afford one, get one. Just make sure it's the right one and fits you

Hi Vickster, thanks for your reply the Cube AMS is a full suspension bike see picture th_New%20Cube_zpshdrva5bb.jpg

Bought on sons advice, currently ride on both road and off road tracks.

Nice bike , but it will make riding on the roads a lot harder than it needs to be. A road bike will be a lot more fun on the roads.

I ride a road bike and an MTB and its chalk & cheese with the road bike considerably faster & lighter than the MTB

It is a completely different type of riding on a road bike. The first time you do it (on a quiet, wide, well surfaced road preferably) it might well take your breath away how direct, stiff and quick it feels. I never tire of that buzz when you whoosh off or turn up the pace on a road bike.

I don't think they're more comfortable than road-focused hybrids though, even on a longer road ride. I do find them more comfortable than mountain bikes on the road because I get a lot of unpleasant buzz from knobbly tyres on a tarmaced surface.

In my opinion the most comfortable road ride is a hybrid without suspension but with quite wide tyres on that have absolutely no tread. Smooth as.

Road bikes are great fun at speed though.

@mick1836 Why not go back tp where you brought you current bike from and ask them if they will lend you a road bike to try ?

Failing that there will be fellow cycle chat members who are fairly local to you who might ?

I know i would let you loose on one of my retro bikes if ever you are near to Wellingborough

Biggs682, thanks for your reply and kind offer, however we are 1343 miles apart, I'm currently in Spain Costa Blanca :becool::sun:I purchased the Cube from a fellow forum ( not cycling) member. There are several dealers around our location who I have yet to visit to see if they have a suitable road bike for me to rent/borrow to try.
