I got out today and managed about 7 miles, very unfit after a 6 week lay off and everything that went with it. Broadly ok but overtaking cars made me quite nervous which I guess is understandable considering what happened!
Surgeon has not specifically mentioned cycling and nor have I. Probably doesn't strictly qualify within the category of rest and elevation He would probably think me bonkers for even trying so soon given the cause of injury (in my view an accident) but also the fact he has been treating my knee for over 4 years which was wrecked when I ahem came off my bikeWell done Vickster! Take it easy, and do as you are told by the docs etc.......but nice to hear you are back on the bike.
Dismount and walk across on the pavement?i have only just got back onto the bike having being knocked off last september by a hit and run van driver. i still have to dismount when i get to the particular roundabout in question but i'm slowly getting my confidence back. I guess it's just take one day at a time!!!
most definitely!!!Dismount and walk across on the pavement?
Once i get back into riding further i will avoid it like the plague. I tend to ride the canals to which there are plenty near where i live so only tend to use this particular roundabout when i really need to!!It takes a while, but the key is to get back on after a crash as soon as possible.
With roundabouts, can you avoid it from a particular direction.
I have one I will no longer ride 3/4 of the way round after being hit at 30 mph by a car who didn't stop. Took me over 4 years to get my shoulder back to normal after surgery and lots of physio. I still ride the roundabout but from different directions, and I avoid it on the way home.
i know where your coming from, my right elbow is still sore and according to the docs, may take a long time to heal properly, but the good news is, it doesn't affect my cycling . Unfortunately, i cannot avoid the roundabout from a particular direction, it's either that junction or nothing which is why i'm trying to get the mileage back in the legs!!It takes a while, but the key is to get back on after a crash as soon as possible.

I could divert but it would be more than a couple of miles unfortunately!!Do you have a diversion, I do.... Adds a mile or two.
