Have read stories of this company and do not recognise many of the comments made. I worked at Comrade Cycle Co. from 1976 to 1981. In the office. Directors John, Phillip, Linda Taylor + the two fathers..
They actually were based at Alma Street Darlaston before moving to The old Charles Clark Showrooms on the Darlaston/Wednesbury Road
The old site , last time I went by, had been sold and was a Mini Hotel ?.

Used to know Jack Taylor who I think founded this company and managed it through the 60s. I think his sons John and Philip later got involved. Through them I got a Comrade, my first ever cycle

Paul,

I was referred to this post by a member of the toggle chain tour talk site. On the toggle chain site I responded to a thread about unusual bikes with some pictures of my 1949 Comrade Roadster Model. Thought you might be interested in this Flicker link to the pictures I took when acquired. I live in the US near Washington DC, how the bike got from Darlaston to me would be an interesting story.

I found the exact same bike pulled it out of the back of a trash truck in new jersey, wd40 air in the tires ride it every day nice to see what year it is
