bet ya cant....:becool: I've been trying to speak to a human being at BT for 3 days.... its just IMPOSSIBLE!!!!! I even tried to send them a message via their website but it wont accept the ******* account number. I'm incandescent!! Ironic that the second word in their title is Telecomunications.
I made the mistake of signing up for free evening and weekend calls only to find that it constituted a 18 month new contract with a penalty clause. All I want to know is what the penalty is for closing the account early - not too much to ask surely... Anybody out there got an idea please - and can anyone maybe recommend a decent internet/phone package given that BT seem to be taking £87 a month off me!!.+ £17.99 from Orange for the net. Mrs BG got conned into inviting Talk Talk reps in last week when they said they were from BT...lying swine. Thats one I wont be going to...

Probably full payment of the rest of the contract. It's the same with other companies like VM. If you don't mind me asking, £87 per month, how?

Presumably just the line rental and the extra bit for free evenings and weends then, 9 month x £13. No I dont mind, I misread the deal and thought it included mobile calls and made the mistake of telling my son! By the time I realised, a month after, he'd racked up £171 of calls and they based their monthly direct debit on that.

I had to go into Kingston Communications (Hull's phone company) this morning because my internet router was broken. Great service from them. However, the poor elderly bloke who came in with a problem with his phoneline wasn't allowed to see a human being. He was directed to a number of phones round reception where he had to phone customer services, despite them being in the same building.

That's old prices mondo, virgin media are working on reducing bills as we speak (yes, people really do pay vat on tv subs). DS are all right but there are a lot of wild rumours, conspiracy theories and tend to be pro-Sky. Also why VIP, why not XL+ or triple XL?

bobg yes, line rental for the remainder but that's still a fair bit isn't it :becool:. Afraid I can't help on the mobile calls. Some other suppliers charge even more for landline to mobile.

Yes I can, Yes I am, Yes I did...Repeat.
I have been through similar frustrations trying to talk to BT.. I gave up when I realised I had aged substantially whilst on hold.
They are HOPELESS...truely useless.

Merely because bobg wrote that he was paying £87 to BT and £17.99 to Orange comparison what £86 would get you at VM.

Numerically similar. A similar product at virgin media would be less i.e. XL+ or triple XL (well more strictly speaking in quite a lot of circumstances).

If you want to talk to someone from BT just switch to buying your calls from another provider (AOL in my case, line rental still BT).

Now they phone me up almost every week trying to persuade me to go back, and it doesn't matter how many times you say no, mention the telephone preference service or even threaten to leave them all together they still ring.

I reckon I'll just write them a letter :becool: (presuming their address is not a secret too ) The swines owe me about £250 too cos I have kept No2 son off the phone since. The smarmy swine from Talk Talk said 24/7 calls, 1/2 price to mobiles and 4gb internet circa £25 all in! Given that in a recent poll only 14% of ther customers thought they were any good, I'm loathed to jump out of the frying pan into the fire.
Know what you mean BB and Helen, I could feel the blood pounding in my temple and my hair going even more grey after my marathon attempts to get a human on Friday.

If you are not being billed for what you've used and they are being awkward about changing it, I don't see the point in staying with them.

We had huge problems with BT when we moved house last year. We were initially told we couldn't use our previous provider and had to go with BT. It took several weeks to set up a new phone line and to get the ball rolling on broadband. We then were told our original provider could help us. The other company set us up with phone and broadband within a couple of days. But we couldn't get through to BT to tell them where to go.
I remember spending an afternoon in the phone box on the seafront in a queue to speak to someone before I gave up.
We had visits from two engineers who I had to send away as they hadn't got the message we no longer needed them. By this time we were emailing customer services.
I even wrote to the main office saying I wished to complain about the lack of service received and could they send me details of how to make a complaint as I was fed up of spending hours on hold to the complaints department. I got a standard letter back saying someone would contact me. To date, no-one ever has.
My husband eventually dealt with it by ringing the press office (he's a journo) saying he was doing a story and asking for comment. They tried to placate him and eventually got someone to cease our contract.
Mind you they did send us a bill in the end saying they owed us £30. Two days letter the cheque arrived!

I have a problem with BT, I had a line fault {BT side], engineer said that there will be no charge as a new wall box was needed, next thing a bill for £189.88 arrives. Have you tried to speak to the people in India, no disrespect to them but they are hard to understand.
Still waiting to hear if I have to pay or not.
