Here for rides.
have used walkie-talkies when mtbing in Alps with a mate. He climbs much faster than me and I descend much much faster than him. But line-of-sight issues do limit their usefulness. Otherwise on group rides in UK it is stick together or use sms or mobile phone

I ride alone because I like the peace and quiet and don't want to talk to anybody, if you want to yap then ride with somebody else, and not near me.

We sometimes use them on MTB club night rides, hey have proved useful a few times when people have got separated in a complex area.

Quite funny when we stumbled across a bunch of lads on our wavelength one night and a bit of banter started up. They said they knew where we were and were coming to sort us out. We replied that we could probably see them but they had no idea where we were..... we were standing on the top of Pendle Hill overlooking Burnley at the time!

I have trouble hearing anything from a fellow cyclist within 5 yards of me while out on a ride. Maybe I need the wax from my ears cleaned out
