Make sure you get the angle right; your weight must be shared between the sit bones and the perineal area - Fran's looks about perfect, roughly 5 degrees up at the nose.

I used one of these bikes a ittle while ago and yes the saddle was agony for me too, seems more of a race bike saddle fitted to a hybrid bike.I recon you really do need something a bit wider.

I can’t thank you enough for all your recommendations and links!

I followed both guides to get an estimated sitting position so I can adjust to suit, and after reading reviews on the bike I got a lot of people were saying comments like ‘nice bike, but get a new saddle asap’ so I bought the charge spoon.

It arrived Thursday and I did 3.5 miles yesterday and not long got back from a 4 mile cycle and guess what……. I can sit here and browse the forum without having a sore a**e!

It’s not exactly a nice comfy arm chair but as said above I am getting into cycling so I tend to stand up quite a bit while I get used to it but it is defiantly a lot better than the piece of wood that came with the bike.

Just had a look at the link to the new subway, and i actually like the saddle on them better than the spoon ,assuming its the same as whats in the picture as it looks very similar to whats on my boardman.In fact i would swap a spoon i have for it !
