As I say they were really good from our direct experience
Could you say more why, please? Were you on scheduled group departures or bespoke? Did anything unexpected happen that needed their help, or is it purely the convenience of easier booking with their usual suppliers, possibly with discounts they get?

I expect 90+% of their tours run as planned. I feel the risk is about what happens when things crop up mid tour, or very close to departure.

That also uses east of Pateley part of the talked about since the 1960s cycleway along the old railway line which so far only extends from Harrogate to almost Ripley in terms of the old railway - looks like they plan to rejoin it at Birstwith. So long term it certainly is.

For me personally the WOTR from Appletreewick to Pateley Bridge was a real highlight and I felt it was an achievement to ride up the hill without stopping. I think it will be a shame if it bypasses either the climb or the downhil.

Hmm, but the question is: how high would the body count have to be before you would reroute it away from that descent?

This is true of any "holiday" company. How a company reacts to issues, the unexpected, etc. is a strong indicator of the overall business quality.

The altered route if it comes about is not exactly flat

And that's not even mentioning the at least three 'xx%' signs and several 'sharp bend' and 'road narrows' signs. Apart from all those, there's barely a hint of a hazard ...
I agree that anybody who can read ought not to be caught out. I also think that anybody with decent eyesight and common sense should be able to see the hazards coming up and slow down in time.

But... I was thinking back the other day to some of the near misses that I had when I got back into cycling after a 20 year hiatus. I really didn't know how to get round tight bends on fast descents safely! I reckon that many of the Greenhow cycling victims might be under-skilled rather than overconfident?

I'm not suggesting that @gavgav or any other CycleChat member reading this thread would cock up that descent, but if I hadn't mentioned it and they did, I would have felt wretched!
