Well I decided to go for one of the btwin soft shell had to go to 2xl as the xl was should we say snug I went for the fetching orange version as I have noticed that nearly all of my gear is black so not ideal for riding in the dark.

I decided against any base layers as I do seem to get very hot very quickly so at least with the soft shell with its full zip and a breathable jersey I should be able to regulate my temperature a little better than with my long sleeve cotton t shirt and water/wind proof jackets.

I also got myself a pair of cycling glasses as each time I have been out I have ended up getting something in my eye be it a flipping big rain drop, spray from passing cars or as on the last trip a fly of some sorts. 3 different lenses so I think I am now ready to get out on the bike this weekend.

Only issue now is a wheel that even after being trued by the lbs is still slightly out so time to save up for a new rear wheel or full wheel set.

Comfy armchair to one person & a plank to the next
Hmm. Did the lbs comment on the untrue wheel and say that's as good as they could get it? If they said it's true and it's not, I'd be asking if they could try again.

To be fair to them they never said it was true and said that it looked as if someone had already tried to repair the wheel from what looked like a substantial whack with a kerb and I'm doing so may have made things worse as they overtighten almost all of the spokes leaving it with zero flex.

At the end of the day it is a little straighter and the lbs didn't charge me so no complaints here.
