Another thing .. I see there is another thread where jo_e is saying that he is terrified about going on a road bike. I just wanted to say that I do not want to let my tale frighten anyone off because I was;

- unlucky (that the incident happened and that I broke a leg). probably more chance of winning the lottery.
- stupid (for some reason I saw the danger but did nothing about it).

Please, please do not let this put anyone off.

I only get put off when I break my own bones, and that's not happened in a long while!

P.S. I'm over the fear now, did 20 miles today on the new bike and it's amaaazing. (now that I can stop and change gear!).

Owww. Best wishes for a fast recovery. Get some comfrey tablets from the health food shop. Its old name as 'bone knit' and it has worked for me in the past.

What ever were those dog owners thinking of, blind and deaf and not on any sort of lead :banghead:

I've got a bit to go then. Had my first clipless yesterday after 8 months, while trying to be clever and turn round in the road without getting off. I think counts as clipless and brainless.:wacko:

All three of mine came while turning around and having the inside leg clipped in.

GWS. Hope it's a quick recovery and you're back on the bike soon. My worst clipless moment (in terms of pride) came when leaving school quite a few months ago. One of the mums shouted: 'Looking good Mr L!' as I rolled my bike out of the front door of the school. I waved back coolly, swung my leg over the bike, pedaled the few metres to the school gate, had to stop for traffic and couldn't unclip...and fell very very slowly to the ground!!!!!!! Deathly silence....then as I got up ,huge cheer from the crowd of parents and children!!!
Nothing hurt or broken but it's still mentioned every time they see me with the bike!
