I am originally from Hull and for quite a while have had a hankering to have a Cliff Pratt veteran road bike.

The problem is that I cannot find one. Can anyone suggest some veteran bike sites I may try as they never appear on ebay, Gumtree etc. Even getting to see a picture of one is a challenge.

Hi

I worked at Cliff Pratt Cycles in the 1970's and by then they had stopped making frames. Down in the cellar there was all the kit but it was cheaper to buy them in and decal them up but even that had stopped. Cliff bought them from various sources including Hetchins.

I had a Cliff Pratt with Nervex lugs but it was stolen in about 1976.

I have never seen one for sale

I have contacted Cliff Pratts, they may know someone who has one.

Ive seen a couple of the Ladies bikes on the internet but never a Mans.

Ive never seen one for sale either.

The Hunt is on.

If I find one there is an ebay guy in Brough who does some good restorations and I would send it to him and collect it in the summer.

The Ladies bikes may well be a badged Carton Courette, the early ones had quite fancy lugs with a bend in the twinlats where they were attached to the seat tube.

By Brough do you mean the place where my Uncle made Blackburn Buccaneers by the Humber?

Reviving an old thread, but i just picked up a couple of CP frames , track style rear drops, pretty early , i would guess c/1960
love to know a bit about them, pretty scant information on classic lightweights etc

Welcome , pics would be nice when you can post them, takes 5 posts I think?

Not a lot on the net, best info is from Cliff Pratt's book by picking out the bits about frame making.
