- Location
- Somewhere wet & hilly in NW England.
Your FD may still need adjusting but the trim works like this:
There is a small adjustment mechanism on the FD that is actuated by the two shifting levers.
Change up from the small ring to the large ring - make sure you push the big lever right across.
Now gently push the small lever slightly as if you were going to shift down onto the small ring - you will hear/feel a small click before the point at which the lever will actually shift the chain to the small ring. Release the small lever without pushing it further. You have now shifted the FD slightly inwards ie you have trimmed. This will help counter any FD rub when you are on the biggest cog at the back. As you come down the cogs you can push the big lever back to where it was before you trimmed and the FD will move back outwards etc.
Works the same on the small ring to. Shift down from the big ring. Now push the big lever as if you were going to change up the rings again but not too far. It will click and lo you will have moved the FD slightly outwards etc as per the above.
Have a play!
