Also the coaches keep moaing at me for being in the wrong gear(one coach says i grind too much, so on sat i span more, when another coach then said your spinning too much and ull get knackered and so went back to the cadence the other coach didnt like to keep the current coach happy). SO I was trying to keep them happy and keep a cadence of around 85 - still grind up the really big hills though.

Its the grinding i reckon YC, if your knees arent up to it yet.
You going out on your fixed more? What gear has that got on it?

Nope not been out on the fixed for a proper ride yet - was gonna try it this holiday, but now thinking if i do any cycling at all it better be on the geared roadie to keep the knees happy.
