What is that? Guessing the tracks are used for extra traction, or is it some kind of ultra low tracked remote unit that detaches?
I do wonder...I mentioned up post re landrovers, at that time it was part of a geological survey looking for coal fields in the Vale of Belvoir. We used explosives to send shock waves through the ground, geophones (recievers) to pick up the returning shock waves, which were collected by a Bedford 4WD truck with computers to interpret the results.
Some years later I saw a similar setup but they weren't using explosives, they had a vibrating pad under the truck.
As this truck in the photo has geo. Blah blah written across it, it may well be a cross country or site surveying machine of some sort.

Well the website is interesting but doesn't give any more info about the use of the tracks.

The company does all kinds of environmental investigation - surveying for protected species on development sites, geological testing prior to the construction of a new motorway and asbestos removal and management.

Sounds like a company I would have liked to work for!

Not a classic, but a tidy Scania whist out marshalling on today’s sportive

I wonder if the engineers, & design-team, were fans of Thunderbirds, as it looks like something that Gerry Anderson would feature

Bit pointless posting in a way but saw a lovely Leyland ( probably) Matador tipper truck trundling along Weymouth seafront this week, no livery, just a cream colour, good looking condition from the distance I was looking at it.

I saw a Leyland Buffalo Artic on the A1(M) on thursday, hauling a container trailer, could be around 50 years old still earning it's keep
