it is indeed, which is why it annoys me so much that a chap can't say that he doesn't like the [insert topic] without being badgered for a PhD level thesis explaining why. 'Because I don't', that's all the explanation required...

That is so bloody true, Chuffy! Your best post yet!

There are a few here who seem to be the opposite of trolls (if there can be such a thing) who consider their opinions to be of total knowledge, wisdom, importance and relevance!

I don't personally want to journey too far inside of chuffy's mind in a fantastic voyage type of journey whereby me and chosen intellectuals are injected into his bloodstream in order to neutralize him... and then find out he is that little bloke in a hat that the sergeant major used to bully in 'it ain't half hot mum'.

There's opinion and then there is judgement.

Opinion counts for f-all because it's usually based on ill-informed prejudice.
Judgement is based on less-ill informed prejudice.

Saying that "a 1982 Chateau Mouton-Rothschild is rubbish and just another wine because frankly I think a bottle of Lambrini tastes great" doesn't give your opinion any validity whatsoever because you patently don't know what the hell you are talking about.

So when you do start spouting forth, at least try to justify your opinion (other that I know what i like and i like what I know), otherwise you run the risk of looking a twat.

As one of my teachers used to say: "Your opinion is only as good as the evidence with which you can back it up."

'ere Disgruntled, is this one of those rare occasions when we agree on something?
