This is the tree this year.
Since the gf (middle class) and me (working class) set up home, with the first child on the way, I have always insisted on a real tree. Which has, probably, more to do with me being a lover of plants and the outdoors than anything. The gf left to her own devices would probably buy an artificial tree. The kids have decorated it. The setting in place of the star at the top is reserved for the man of the house, who happens to be the only one that can reach it. The choosing and collecting (the hunt) of the tree is done by the menfolk. Though this will likely change in the years to come as the young girl is strong of will. The rest of the ’decs’ are down to me to decide with the gf exercising her right to veto anything that isn’t basically a soft white.
