I leave it all to Mrs Ian to sort...even her own pressie from me..

I suggested something that I would like (only costs £20, nothing extravagant) to my boyfriend and he started complaining that he never gets to buy me a surprise! I wasn't expecting that, I thought I was being helpful. And the obvious solution is to buy me what I want AND a surprise.

I am sitting at my terminal feeling rather smug. Most of my Xmas presents were bought late AUgust and early September and are now stashed away wrapped and labelled awaiting distribution on Christmas Day. Without exception all of the purchases were made on line and I got some fantastic bargains. Purchasing done within an hour. Wrapping took a little longer.

There's a special place in Hell reserved for people like you (give my regards to my sister-in-law, she usually finished the Christmas shopping and has all the cards done by the end of February!).

Anyway, SWMBO actually agreed because she'd had a hard day with the ankle snappers she herds for a living (Joseph has measles and two of the wise men peed themselves) , so we did the online things from J Lewis, Body Shop and Amozon in about 40 mins and spent the rest of the evening with feet up drinking damson vodka!

And it's only the 9th! Feel very virtuous, although the good suggestions about Pershore, pubs and bike shops were almost tempting too!

We did all of our christmas shopping yesterday in Manchester - it was a good laugh - the place was pretty much empty, we'd made a list before we went, and we just worked through it. I actually enjoyed it this year - it always seems an unholy scramble but we managed OK for once

Vernon how can you get christmassy in August?

There's something particularly smug-making about going Christmas shopping in Portsmouth or Southampton (particularly Southampton) by motorbike - I do love filtering past huge queues of cars stuffed full of people about to flip their lids in frustration and then I gracefully pull into the bike parking area in a car park full of circular traffic jams of cars stuffed full of people who actually have flipped their lids and are beeping and shouting at each other.
