Have you had a look at the Planet X SL Pro with Full Ultegra its in your price range if I was spending a Grand this week it would be that or the Cayo.

I'd go for the Planet x, the Cayo is heavy for the price comparison

They all look very nice. The Focus gives the added bonus that they are throwing in 10% of your order price in accessories until the end of January so you could get a nice big lock to... errrm... open discussion (about the head) with your ex-flatmate regarding his 'new' bike.
