Not to confuse the choice any further but you may wish to consider some triathlon shoes. Some are very light and airy so wont get hot in a warm studio. Also they are often very light

Do MTB SPD cleats fit them?

(Even if they DO, the cleats would not be recessed so they would make a mess of the gym floor!)

So long as you fit the right cleat, they'll be fine.

I would also imagine that you would carry the into the spin studio and put them.on to ride in. So the cleats wont be an issue on the floor.
