Picked up a highvis vest on the side of the road ages ago , hung it on a nail in the shed.

Had a brainwave today, cut off the retroreflective strips and glued bits of it to the rack bag on the road bike. Glue was wilkinsons own in a tube for a quid.

Glue was Wilko all purpose clear adhesive. comes in a toothpaste type tube, claims to be water resistant. Tried superglue first but no good.

I've actually unravelled an old hi-vis vest. I have all the reflective striping but just havnt done anything with it yet.

I suppose, secretly I'm hoping the wife will sew them onto my rucksack, properly, in a nice little pattern. But I doubt that'll ever happen

'Accidentaly' leave this thread on screen. Maybe with a jewellery store page on another tab and see if it speeds the process along!

Have stuck a few bits front and back on my windproof, hope the water resistant claim on the glue holds up :-)

You are better off putting it lower down on your body, such as on socks, longs or shorts. Car headlights don't throw up much light that high and the effect of reflective material is reduced the higher up it is.

Arch suggested to me to look in Poundland and similar for those tabards. For a pound there is a lot of reflective tape to unpick and is a lot cheaper then buying the same quantity reel of reflective tape on its own.

The backs and sides of my cycling shoes just gained some retroreflective bits. The stuff cant be expensive you would think the shoe and clothing manufacturers would put more on.

I've done the same (years ago) - ankle bands (with some velcro) + glued onto my back pack. I hope I'm more visible.......

I was too lazy to unpick the material so bought some cheap iron on strips from EBay - not fallen off in a years washing and I get to look like a reject from Tron:
