I have a pair of 50mm carbon clinchers. I also have 30mm semi aero alu rims I have to say there is little if any noticeable difference between them. My last three road races and three crits have been on the alu rims and if anything they feel easier to sprint on than the carbon.

Why not the Chinese ones? My youngest races on carbon rims with Powerway hubs and they're under 1100g for the pair of tubular wheels. His road wheels (same hub) which are clinchers are just 1200g.

Mind you he only weighs 35 kg.
So he weighs about the same as my beer belly?!!

These are the superstars I take it? Blimey praise indeed, and cheap as chips! :okay:

Yep. My only issue is they are a bit red! At 1500 grammes though with a set of Michelin power tyres and latex tubes they are fine for me. I also don't need to worry about stuffing a £1500 pair of Zipps in a race. I wasn't the only rider using them either. ;)

Ummmm.... Superstar wheels ae indeed cheap and light but I'm afraid they're not robust. Mavic Ksyrium for me every time, and there's a difference between the cheap ones and the expensive ones in stiffness.
