Alloy rims can be just as light, it all comes down to cost.

Planet X seem to offer some but they aren't light if weight is the reason for interest

Normally, with wheels, you can get two out of three from cheap, light, strong. Light and cheap do not usually sit together. Have you checked there's none for sale in the classifieds?

Why not the Chinese ones? My youngest races on carbon rims with Powerway hubs and they're under 1100g for the pair of tubular wheels. His road wheels (same hub) which are clinchers are just 1200g.

Mind you he only weighs 35 kg.

Jamma are you looking into carbon for the aero benefits? If so, then you may want to look at the research that shows what speeds you need to be travelling to see these benefits.
