Why didn't she do it herself?A plumber i know,who wasted his time in school has a villa in Goa where he spends winter,while we're here freezing. He hasn't been for a while due to travel restrictions. According to a woman i talk to in the local park,he charged her £40 to fit a gas cooker the other day,which took the whole of 15 minutes.
CC members really are plumbing to unknown depths here with this type of post.......who really cares what he buys, spends his money on, after all its his money and if the customer wasn't happy with the £40 quote for fitting cooker, she could have gone elsewhere

Well there you go, that's what her £40 was paying for. For comparison, Curry's wanted to charge me £20 to install a washing machine which isn't safety critical and doesn't require any special certification. As long as it's not a blatant rip off, we really need to stop devaluing people's labour. £40 to me doesn't seem unreasonable.

I have no idea about Charlie Mullins, but he charges what he charges. And that's fine.
I charge £40 per hour for my time if I'm on a freelance design job. I'm worth it; I've been doing this for nearly 20 years, I know what I'm doing and I'm good at it.
If you don't like that, do it yourself if you can. Or go elsewhere.

Just checked our service reports and it's £166p/h for a mass spec engineer, including travel time and possibly exclusive of VAT. Keep your service contracts up to date, people.
seems to me that we just have posts on here to pick on people.....boris, starmer, sturgeon, abbott, may etc etc etc, what's the point and before someone points out freedom of speech, i get that, but that doesn't mean freedom to abuse and berate others

We are on about the local plumber i mentioned and not Pimlico Plumbers aren't we?🤔£40 for a 15min job doesnt convert to £160 per hour……how long was travel time too and from said job, if that was another 15mins, then thats £80 an hour, before making assumptions get all the factsOverheads like er his new every 2 years transit van and that'll be it.
