although, from your avatar you appear to like cycling yourself, the questions you ask and the wording suggests a fairly basic understanding of cycling in general

Thanks for your comments. Many questions/statements are adapted from a similar study conducted in Canada a few years ago. I appreciate that some terms are quite basic but it was important to make the questions clear and understandable for all types of respondents.

@deptfordmarmoset @Kat27 I suppose my reasons are somewhat individual and selfish. My family are not particularly bikey and don't really get the cycling geek thing, our home life is busy, work can be 24/7/365 and shared time is limited. BUT I enjoy cycling and would like to ride more than I do. Tying the opportunity of a nice long ride out nominally to a charity we support/school fundraising makes a 'me' day on the bike easier to sell at home.

Sorry I can't add another option in now the survey is live. You can select full time/part time which takes into account those who are self-employed as well.
