Changing from a 23 to a 25 rear tyre.

When I visit the UK in three weeks time I will be getting some clothing and some bike gear.
One of the things I will be getting is a couple of tyres, now I have read that using a 25 rear has some benfits over a 23...( there was a big test in a thread on here but I cant find it now.)
Has anyone changed from a 23 to a 25 with good results I wonder?

I have used both 23's and 25's for both commuting and leisure rides over the years and can't find any real difference, comfort or performance between the two.

I use 25c gatorskins during the winter, they feel a little bit more comfortable than the 23c version of the same tyre.

You'll hardly notice any difference tbh, I run 25's and maybe they are ever so slightly more forgiving.

25's for me to. Nicer feel for me as a heavier rider. Recent research is suggesting that 25s might roll better as they suffer less carcass deformation. They certainly feel just as fast for me.

I've got a 23 on the front and a 25 on the back.

Don't know whether there is any benefit/difference or not though.

Probably get a 25 for the front when I can save up for one.

No perceivable difference to the ride quality IMO, but 23's are lighter!

I've also used both but can't honestly say I could not feel any difference, and I'm definitley at the wrong end of the weight scale as well, so with no difference to note
I stick to 23's.

I can't tell the difference. Other than the increased chance of 25's rubbing on mudguards
Keep it simple and stay with 23's, imho.

BUT, why not run 23's and take the dust cap off, super lightweight

I reached my fastest speed on a nearby almost flat (ie not a 15% decline) road when riding with 25c tyres, weight isn't everything!

The report I read did say that the 25's shouldn't be any slower but in some cases it would be faster and of course just a little softer but I suppose letting the PSI down a tab might improve things..
Might be even the case of naff tyres on my bike at the moment.. mine are standard Giant Flat Guards which are slow running than some makes I think..

PS.. How much heavier are 25's over the 23's then?

Make sure you have enough frame clearance for the bigger tyres. My bike doesnt.
