Hey guys took my boardman adv8.9 to the local bike shop! Because the chain was slipping, spoke to the guys there and told me I needed a new cassette and chain which would cost me £120. So I thought I'd have a look how much they cost and how easy it is to do my self, safe to say it cost me £43 shimano hg500 cassette and kmc chain! was easy to do watch a Couple of utube videos and boom

Good on you
Its really not a tough job to do yourself once you have the right tools.
My purchase is a proper bike tool kit

Well done bungay.
I can recommend the park book of bike maintenance.
The stuff i use for such bits would have cost maybe £25.
It is of course also faster to do stuff yourself.

Once you get going there will be stopping you.

nothing is more pleasurable than doing the job yourself.

I still use bike shops but only for hydraulic brakes which are out of my comfort zone.
