Hi all,

I'm doing up and old bike off ebay and want to replace the cranks. It's running 8 speed campy drive train. If I buy some 10 speed campy cranks with the same BCD of 135mm can I run 8 speed 135mm chainrings on it? Will I have to add any spacers?

Thanks in advance.

Just use the 10 speed cranks with 8 speed chain. Simples!!

Thanks, but I thought that 10 speed cranksets are narrower so that a wider 8 speed chain may get stuck on the smaller ring?

Can't say definitively on Campag, but I've used a 9/10 speed Shimano chainset on 7 speed chain before now with no problems at all. The outside width difference between 8 and 10 speed chain is minimal.

Cool, I had read similar that front shifting hasn't changed a great deal in a long time so think I'll follow your advice. Thanks.
