About all flange mounts, regardless where in the economy, use bolts a few threads longer than the nut.
Exceptions were usually due to not having that length in the magazine;, with most chosing the next longer avail length.
I had that optimal bolt length avail, so I chosed them.
Better some threads extra than some threads unused.
If that wasn't obvious.
Remember: they don't sell bolt in all lengths.
That 5 mm exposed thread doesn't bother me. The bolts are zinc plated so they won't rust anyway.
And it leaves the option to use washers, in case the hexagons would fret in the alu, and spacers to alter chainline, in case that may ever be needed.
That's all what I think.
This bike comes from a long way, having been delivered with numerous problems.
I solved those, and improved things, step by step,
These bolts made life again easier for me.
For me, that's what matters.
There are people that view a bike alike its a costume that has to impress.
For me, it"s a wheelbarrow.
