chain reaction is not as good as what there made out to be, that they state they have alot of stock when infact they dont have the half of it and actually order it in on demand off the fly i.e. might say they have new campy 2011 but they dont and when you enquire or buy they get it in for you.
how i found this out and through numerous friends and people i know that work there in various different sections of the company and through my own experience of wanting different components. i personally think that a company should not be allowed to advertise something they do not physically have in stock now if there never to actually going to get it in or if there waiting for enquires as its false advertising for a start. Should just be the company takes a gamble through there marketing to automatically know if people or going to buy the product they will try and sell. Also makes them look like the worlds and europes biggest seller of bike related components as they say they do mostly everything when if you start to peel away generally what they not do(i.e. prodcuts they dont have on site) actually not as big as they make out.

Ordered from both CRC and Wiggle in the last week, both orders were shipped within 2 days and delivered by the 3rd day.
They are my 1st port of call now for all cycling gear, need to start locking my credit card away though, too easy to spend fortunes with the click of a button

Do you mean that in the "Stock" column if it says "In Stock" that might be a porky?

no no stuff they say is in stock, even as bad as saying something is in stock then later on you go back to view the same thing then it is changed to expected in such and such date, then when near the date it has got back to in stock then on the actually date even got to expected in soon or will be ordered on the fly :S plain crazy way to run a business.
yes there is quite alot of out of stock or expected etc on the website to, they have even advertised a few items that they never got into stock( personally experience i had to go else were) :S duno why they would waste time doing that as i know its only to pull people into viewing other aspects of their website i.e. offers and products etc.

Sounds to me like they get their stock control just about right, just enough on the shelf to cover orders, but they don't carry that that much stock that their profits are collecting dust on the shelves. You can't give the quality of service most of us are getting from them without getting the stock levels right. I work in a warehouse, they operate on the princible that if its ordered before 5pm its on the wagon before us on the late shift go home at quarter to seven. It works because they carry adequate stock, we have production next door, even so it takes a couple of days to get an item in if its out of stock, if Chain reaction have to buy in to satisfy orders its going to take a while.
