CRC main warehouse is 10 miles from me, their new retail store is 2 miles away. Ive bought my new bike from them but bought from the store.

Here is a video they have made showing how you will get your bike:

Never use a debit card to pay for transactions you are not afforded the same protection as a credit card - Credit card at all times if you dont trust the site and they have a paypal option use that as paying with paypal the buyer has more protection than the seller and yes the consumer credit act applies also

Not strictly true. I've had a chargeback on my debit card (Visa) for goods not turning up.

Oh and I had my card done (£800) after using CRC in February. I have since used CRC a few times since and had no problems at all and would rate them above wiggle nowadays. I did have one 'non-delivery' from CRC (I reckon the postman needed the caffeine gels to finish his round ), rang them up and they resent the goods out, no problems.

Edge705 isn't saying you get no protection with debit - just less. With a CC your contract is with the credit company, not the supplier, so there is much less chance of any problems like insolvency meaning you loose your goods to higher priority creditors (like HMRC) after payment but before delivery.

A word of warning for anyone relying on Section 75 as a backup in case of issues when paying with a Credit Card - it does NOT apply if you pay using through Paypal, ONLY if you pay directly to Chainreaction. The same would apply with any retailer using a third party to provide their payment service - e.g. Worldpay.

More info here: MSE Section 75

I did have a debit card cloned following a CRC purchase - for which they accepted responsibility and gave me a voucher.

Thanks for that Link Sheepy. It confirmed my fears about PayPal et al.

To answer the OP's question. I have not bought a bike from CRC but have ordered many many things. The buying service is fast, and the in-stock label has never lied to me, but many other shops get that right too, and my custom.

One thing I have tested with CRC is the returns process and this is a place where many shops can fail. They have never argued with me when I have sent back opened but unused goods. I have yet to have a faulty item that has required sending back.

In fact he didn't say "less", he said "not the same".

....as you were.

(apologies to OP)

I bought a Corratec bike from them a while ago. Paid via Paypal so no issues with card cloning
My bike arrived boxed with only front wheel & pedals to fit & bars to straighten, simples
Last weekend I had minor issues with the rear wheel, they have just given me the ok to get the wheel sorted at a LBS & they will pay the bill  Excellent service so far
