Arghh! Done it again. I bought a Shimano chain and forgot what a crap split link they come with. I eventually got it on but it's a stiff link. I just ordered a bunch more split links and link pins. They cost an incredible amount for the little bits of metal they are.

That advice would never come from me. Shimano hyperglide chains without quicklinks on everything for me. I have chains and cassettes which are well over 3k miles and still perfectly fine.
Shimano hyperglide chains are the best imho

i like kmc quick links, tried to use a sram quick link and i couldn`t get it to link up.

KMC quick links - with Shimano, Campag, all, 7 8 9 10 11 speed chains. No faffing about with special pins, lengths of chain etc etc.
