Quick story..

Started riding 15 months ago and had chaffing problems as we all do and cured it with creams, so for the last year I've had no problems at all, no matter what bike or padded shorts I wear.
I using the same saddles at the same height so no change there either.
Then two days ago I got a sore inner thigh and dont know why?

So is it more of the cream and just carry on riding or is it a pair of my bib shorts have reached the end of there shelf life and need replacing.
Cheers

Just to make sure, what exactly do you mean by chaffing?
Do you mean red and painful or sore skin?

Did you shower or bath before your ride as that can dry your skin out , personally I wear a liner under my shorts or bibs and that stops chaffing as the liner acts as a second skin.

No I didn't shower or bathe but I did have a look at the 3/4 bib tights that I was wearing at the time and it seems that they are a bit loose, so they might of been slipping as I was riding.
Went out today wearing a pukker pair of bib tights with cream on and no real problems and the redness has nearly gone.
So the 3/4's might be going in the dustbin?

Worth slapping on some lamisil. It's the same stuff used for athletes foot and jock itch. You could have a yeast infection. I always a have a tube of the stuff on hand just in case.

I had a shower after my ride today and put Sudo crem on and its not as red or sore as it was yesterday so hopefully it will clear in a day or two but I'll try lamosil if it dont clear up.

do you were undies or anything else under the shorts?
i generally just wear the shorts and find undies can cause rubbing and are uncomfortable in general

In my case I got bad chaffing last year after getting back on my bike following a layoff period following an op I had in October 12. Was just like chaffing, but I had a red blotchy patch on the top of my inner thigh area. Sudocreme and e45 didn't help, and a bit of googling lead to the conclusion of 'jock itch'. The lamisil sorted it within days.

I tend to just blob some of the crime on now if I ever start to get a bit tender after a ride. Just as a precaution and not had any trouble since.

It's blooming annoying until you discover what it is as sudocreme or and antibacterial creams don't touch it as it's a yeast infection. Even spotlessly clean doesn't help as it gets caused by an imbalance in the bacteria and stuff on your skin naturally.

Just one of those things you have to discover what works for you.

Well I went out for a ride today and I might have a clue to the rash..

Yesterday I went out with some good bibshorts and legwarmers and had no problems but today I went out in thermal bibshorts (longleg) and it began to itch so I'm wondering if my thigh area is getting over heated and I should wear my summer bibshorts to keep cooler..
Just thinking aloud and I could be talking pants so too speak? ^_^

@Boon 51 I found when doing Ten Tors that I was comfortable when I wasn't hot/wet as those lead to me chafing (I assume because it was sweat/water and walking stupid miles weren't a good mix.

Does the temperature in Malaga even require a pair of winter shorts?
