Resurrecting this; I'm off to Center Parcs this weekend. And yes, it's expensive but given the past couple of months we've had it's a needed break. We looked at alternatives but it's simply the easiest option.

We're taking bikes for all of us plus doing a couple of activities.
Enjoy!

I love Center Parcs. Went in summer and loved cycling to all the different things. I did a cracking wildlife photography course and got some great pictures from it.

That said, my friends rental bike got nicked! She had locked it up outside the shopping/swimming pool place and came back to a smashed lock and no bike. Who steals a rental bike in Center Parcs? Is it to avoid paying the rental? Who knows.

it does work well for me as the prices keep out the riff-raff !
.......

OP ......... It also helps that the rate of bike theft in a Center Parc must be pretty low.
The Centre Parc at Sherwood Pines has real problem with bike thefts.... I was speaking to a guest there last year who had had to hire bikes for the whole family as their bikes (and many of their neighbours bikes too) had been nicked on the first night.....Apparantly he was told that the local scrotes view Centre Parcs as the place to go to "acquire" decent bikes....

We were warned this last time we were there.

Therefore the decent MTB's not going; it's the retro GT Timberline with ice spikes.

Ive been looking at options for our summer holidays and having seen this thread decided to price a week in Cetreparcs, Longleat in July. They are looking for £1100 for a cabin for a week, I would have to fly or ferry over to England on top of that. Thats a lot in my estimation. By comparison, my current forerunner for the summer is 9 nights in Oslo, flights with Ryanair from Dublin and an apartment for the 9 nights are currently working out at a tad over £700 (thats for a family of 4).
Do we have any Norwegians on board who can brief me on Oslo?

Must admit that I was sceptical about Center Parcs, but having tried it last year with a toddler I have signed up again for the summer. It was better than expected and is brilliant for a stress free holiday with childen. But of course it is a little on the safe side holiday wise, but that's not always a bad thing.

@Dayvo is your man, he's usually hibernating at this time of year though. I can say from experience that Norway is really nice.

I hope you had a 'lemon top' there! Between 1992 and 1998 I lived just outside Middlesbrough (in Normanby/Eston) and Redcar was the closest we had to a seaside.

And I'm not showing off, or at least I hope I'm not. SWMBO is being made redundant next month and with all the associated stresses I decided she, and us, need a break.

We have a family get together every year in May at Centre Parc, have been doing so for the last 18 years. Normally about 22 to 26 of us, each year it gets more expensive around 3 grand for a long weekend. This year we are thinking of trying one in Holland as @User suggests.
