Hi
Does anyone know if the forks on the TDF are a straight or tapered steerer tube? Also is it a 1" 1/8" and what length?

Saves me having to take it apart!

Cheers Griff

Actually just whether its tapered or not as i can measure the length whilst fitted and its a 1"1/8th diameter.

Thanks for the replies folks. I'm looking to change to carbon forks and bars to hopefully reduce some of the buzz from the front end

You might find playing with tyres and pressures helps...apparently and certainly cheaper and simpler as a first possibility

carbon bars on a sub £300 bike? a bit overkill; try double-wrap or gel-padded bar tape.

the benefits of carbon bars have less to do with comfort as with weight saving.

the carbon fork will be a decent upgrade, but don't spend a fortune and expect a miracle.

the advice about tyre sizes and pressures above is also pretty sound...

The bike only cost me £150 when I bought it and I can't afford to go full carbon. To many other toys to play with lol. What ever forks and bars I get will be second hand and I won't be spending a lot. I was looking at the flatter style bars as I've already double wrapped with gel tape so thought I might as well save some weight at the same time by going carbon.

It won't. What pressure are you running the tyres at?

Usually run around 110psi front and 115psi rear. My pumps not that accurate but does the job for now

I'd be wary of buying anything second hand in carbon especially on a budget

Drop your tyre pressures to 100 , see how that works and add 25mm tyres
