Hi, I'm thinking of building a stock of a carry "on board" emergency repair kit.

Does anyone know what type of chain my bike runs, or indeed how I identify this?

It's an 8 speed rear cog set up.

I presume that a chain splitting tool will also be a requirement to carry (used to have one, but heaven knows where it's gone)

It's been years since I've fettled with bikes, and it presume the old school split link may have changed a bit based upon the quick research I've undertaken.

Thanks in advance...

Hi and :welcome: Matt-g

Yes, you'll need a chain splitter for your emergency kit and a couple of quick links suitable for 7 or 8 speed chains. I like the KMC links (as do many others) as they are very easy to use.
