I have seen a nice one of these for sale locally just abiding my time at the moment

I did the same - waiting for an ID9 - then picked up this almost brand new 8 for £80.

Has that got trigger shift ?
As the one I have seen has twist shifter which I hate

Yes trigger - I thought twist were not available for 8 speed from Shimano. I also hate twist so would have changed to a trigger.

I agree, it seemed rude not to. I was holding out for an ID9, but it seems anyone selling one via Facebook is a total moron and then this one popped up pretty locally so I pounced.

I think that the older non disc versions of the Intercity were twist grip. Those bikes are very different.
