My son has a Carrera and has put in some punishing runs(and falls) on the thing and its still as solid...
I should have bought one too but woofed out and bought a Marasa as it was the same colour of what hair I had left^_^

Go on, tilt your head!
I've never had an issue with Carrera bikes. I have a 2003 Carrera Fury MTB still going strong on original components. I bought a second hand Carrera Subway for my brother, he has no mechanical sympathy and thats surviving everything he chucks at it. My mate has a Carrera TDF road bike and he commutes around 150km each week through all weathers and his is going strong also.

it almost certainly wont be as good but will it come any where close to a specialized, giant or board man or even a dawes galaxy for touring but prob don't count dawes galaxy as that is in a league of its own!

Bloke at work has the velos. Moaning cos he reckons the gearing is too low. Topping out at about 19.5mph but I reckon it could be him a bit really. Looks nice though.

I've got 2 Carreras ...... An early nineties hard tail mountain bike...a symmetry - and I recently bought a 2013 road bike, a tdf....based upon my satisfaction and longevity with the symmetry. Good, solid, dependable all round in my experience!

Totaly in agreement, i have two carreras a Kraken disc brake mtb and a Valour road bike. Both have had a few quid spent on upgrades over the time i have had them but they are faultless. Mtb great during the lousy weather we,ve been having and the road bike regularly takes 30 mile pretty fast rides in its stride. As others have said tho do set up and maintain it yourself or your LBS if you,re not good with the spanners.

Nothing wrong with the bikes, just take them away in the box and put together yourself.

Had one before. ..bullet proof bike, nothing fancy but does the job it's intended to do......(entry level)
That being said I think it would probably do just as good a job as some of the the more expensive bikes.

Bought a Carrera TDF about 3 months ago. Halford's had an online 50% sale on plus a 10% week-end. Got it for 270 quid. Solid, reliable and comfortable enough (apart from the saddle, but that might be personal preference) even for a long day in the saddle.

Drawbacks? A tad heavy at over 11kg, accelerates like a tank and climbs horribly - it's the only time I've ever had to use the lowest gear on a bike - in other words, an ideal winter trainer!

As all the above...seem to be good bikes for the price and if you hang around for a 10% off weekend or suchlike, you could get a real bargain

Have a 2008 TDF SE. Done the job for all these years. Got a new Ghost Race 5000 (2011) a few years back, so the TDF is relegated to Winter/very bad weather duties. It's a workhorse.
