Generally cars do not rust to a serious degree these days and a bottle of warm water cleans the windscreen with no noise or hard work, and stops it misting up inside.

Fiat have been spouting that whopper for the last sixty years.

Some car owners puzzle me.
They won't park in their driveway.
They won't park across their driveway.
They prefer to park almost , but not quite a full car length away from it.
So 1 car/ owner is using almost 4 spaces.

He was also on the zigzags leading to a pedestrian crossing, but that clearly wasn't bothering him.

I used to love catching lazy drivers parked on the zig-zag areas at crossings. They would begin with the usual arrogant attitude along the lines of "OK officer, very sorry, now just give me the £30 parking ticket so that I can get on my way.....".
They weren't so arrogant when they realised that parking on zig-zags is an endorsable driving offence, so they were getting a ticket for £60 and 3 penalty points on their licence. "So don't forget to tell your insurance company about the points, and you be sure to have a nice day..:laugh::laugh:".

I've been doing it for 40+ years and never damaged a windscreen yet. Must be lucky so I'll buy a Lottery ticket this week.
You're using WARM water, which is fine. The problem only arises, as you probably know, when people boil the kettle and immediately pour it over their frozen windscreen with inevitable results.....

My wife's Fiat Panda has been kept outdoors for 12 years and has absolutely no rust on it.

The world has moved on since the last century, including Fiat.
My Panda succumbed in short order, despite some old Cryla-Gard bollocks from Fiat. It was a while ago. Great little car, while it lasted.

If I had a garage, my car would be in it every night. As it is, I have a drive long enough to take 3 cars so my car goes on it but my wife always parks her on the road as she can't reverse down the drive.

Should be be driving at all if she cannot perform a basic manoeuvre?

I always equate people who put their cars in a garage with the same old sad acts that sit and polish them every Sunday morning without fail.

My cars sit on our driveway, none of them have rusted or fallen apart from being outside.

During bad weather up here the last place is I want my cars is in the garage as I would then have to clear the snow from the whole driveway before I could get them out. ( we live up high in an area locally notorious for heavy snow in the winter)

We also have 2 4WD motors not to show off but due the winters and hilly area we live in.
