I think "Right is Right" is best way to remember the threading as posted up thread.

A look at the threads will tell you which way they turn. Right hand threads slope down from right to left and from left to right for left handed..

You should also be able to do the pedals up gently turning by hand. Don’t forget to grease threads first if you don’t want them seized when you need to remove them.
