My bike came with Mondos and after several punctures in a very short timescale I went to the lbs with the intention of buying gatorskins. He advised me to buy alternative Specialized tyres - Turbo Elites.
They have black belt protection rather than flak jacket. I convinced myself they made a substantial difference to the ride of the bike, but more importantly I've done over 2000 miles since with only 1 puncture. They seem to be very much a niche product - nobody ever mentions them, but they've certainly worked for me.
