i just bought a new boarsdman sport and it has come with the Wellgo model LU209pedals, basically dont like the at all and want to change them, i was wondering if you can fit cleats to these pedals by taking off the straps and using the excisting pedals i have with cleats and propper clip in shoes??

I am not sure what you are trying to say.

If you don't like the pedals on the new bike, then take them off and replace with the other (clipless) pedals you have.
Or am I reading it wrong?

No, you need spd pedals. The cleats attach to the shoe, you then clip the cleats into the cleat grip on the pedal

You can get spd pedals for £20

Then you'll need to spend £50 on the shoes. The cleats come with the pedals (usually)

If you already have cycling shoes, then determine which sort you have, either 3 bolt or two bolt style, and buy pedals and cleats to match, so if you have 3 bolt shoes, then you can buy Exustar (KeO compatible) pedals (they come with cleats) for as little as £24 or if you have two bolt style shoes, then you can buy SPD pedals with cleats.

I see where you are coming from

The pedal does look as if it can take some form of cleat
Some early pedals had a triangle at the front with a lip, then a cross ridge.

You slid the shoe cleat in and then a recess on the pedal cleat accepted the crosspiece to fix the cleat in place.

Shimano track pedals fitted this way:

Both the triangular recess and crosspiece are present on the Wellgo pedal, so it is not unreasonable to suggest that they would take a cleat of this type

However I would thing that unless Wellgo make a cleat for this pedal then it would be difficult to source, and a quick Google confirms this

As above use a modern SPD type system
