I think he’s American

I've heard campy in the UK as well. Strictly it should be campi as it is an Italian brand and Italian doesn't use the letter y ;) .

I joined this forum as a new rider at 74 years old, to share stories, learn from more experienced riders, and enjoy the cultural nuances that are present in international gatherings. It is unfortunate that some people engage in all forums for reasons that do not invite alternative ideas or cultural norms and feel the need to demean others.
This is not the place for me.
For those of you with whom I have had positive engagement, thank you.
Best wishes and safe riding.

I'm truly sorry you feel that way; I think you may have just discovered that English humour can have a strong streak of irony.

I hope you stay, but either way, happy cycling.

Thank you All Uphill. I am aware of the sometimes biting nature of British humor. As an international business consultant, I spent a lot of time in the UK working with companies like Bank of Scotland and C&L Container. I got my share of jabs but they were tongue-in-cheek and not mean spirited.
BTW , London is my favorite city in the world. In the 90’s I was there during the poll tax riots. That was an interesting time.
Be well.

I don't think the reference to you being from the US or any others were meant as mean spirited. I hope you stay.

I appreciate your comment. I may have overreacted. We in America are rapidly losing our identity as a nation and our culture. Our leaders are destroying our country and have made America the deserving subject of worldwide mockery. We deserve it. However, those of us that love this country and pray for its resurrection, are sensitive to that mockery. I suspect a number of older Brits are feeling similarly.
That being said, I’m staying on.
Thank you.

Good to hear, British humour can take a bit of getting used to at times and the written word can lack the tone of the spoken comment and be misinterpreted.

I only referenced you being American as the term “Campy” is often used there but not over here, no offence was meant by my comment, so sorry if it did offend you.
