Hi all, new to the forum and this is my first posting!

Campagnolo Xenon rear mech 10 speed! Need a replacment one already, bikes only six days old and it has snapped!!!

I have read on here that xenon is the entery level campag kit and is being phased out. So what is a good replacment?

Thanks for you advise

Forgot to mention its got a compact chain set 50/36 on the front and big to small on the rear. Also campagnolo Xenonshifters.

Whats the difference between long and short cage?

P.s gotta think about the budget to the misses was not to impressed with me buying the bike in the first place!!!

I was going to say what Chris said.

Instead I will say that Dom's suggestion of a replacement might not be the cheapest.

And also

Xenon and Mirage will be phased out next year, Veloce will be the entry level which is equvilent of sh*man* 105.

If your rear mech snapped so early in its life it should be covered by Campagnolo's warranty.

Short cage will allow use of rear cogs upto 26 teeth, long cage will allow the bigger 12t 29t Campy cassette.

Good choice by the way...Any one who is anyone always uses Campagnolo

A short cage will be ok with a 28 sprocket, I've even used one with a 29 in the past.

Will all rear mechs work with the shifters?

Well the rear mech just sort off snapped! Was on a long down hill straight giving it some when the back wheel locked and spat me off still clipped into the pedals when I hit the floor!

The part thats broken is the part with campag and xenon writen on it, between two pivot points.

Whats a frame hanger?

Whats a frame hanger?

This bit (not all frames have them.)

They're designed to 'easily' snap so that if you accidentally knock your rear mech this reatively inexpensive part will snap off preventing you from damaging the frame or the mech itself.

I did it recently, but after thousands of miles. I was changing gear under load at the time. (See picture).

Where yours went sounds suspicious. I would expect that that part of the parallelogram had a particular flaw or weakness during manufacture, and 99 others are fine.
